Jötnar are the Giants of Frost in the Norse mythology living up on the Mountain of Jötunheimr and Niflheimar. 

Our Owner Matteo believes the mountaineering is good for building character. The main goal of the company is to introduce people the mountain and glacier environment and teach them to respect and appreciate it while having fun.

Matteo started going on the mountain since young age during the family summer holiday. He started Rock Climbing at the age of 16, joined the Alpine Club at 18 and then started Ice Climbing at 22. 

He taught Alpinism, Rock climbing and Ice climbing for about 13 years in the Alpine Club of his home town.

He has a MB on Glacier's Criocarsism with focus on Glacier Mills (moulins).

He has the full qualifications for guiding on Glacier (Jokla3) and on the Mountain (Fjalla2); he is part of the Instructors team for AIMG (Icelandic Mountain Guide Association) and WFR certificated. 

When he is not guiding he enjoys to climb both rock and ice and he is a keen explorer of new routes and active in discovering and bolting new climbing crag. 

Jötnar is a small company born by the experience of 10 years of guiding. We are committed to show glacier and mountain to people and enjoy this kind of environment. Providing only private trips we are delivering the best and customized experiences for all kind of skills.
